DEGREE OF DIFFICULTY: Eassy.

POINTS OF INTEREST: Romanesque chapel with a bell tower featuring Lombard bands and twin windows. The height of the bell tower contrasts with the tiny chapel. This is an excellent viewpoint above Andorra la Vella, Escaldes-Engordany and the area to west.

52. FROM THE MADRIU VALLEY TO ESTANY (LAKE) DE L’ILLA

PATH: Trails GR7 and GR11

TOTAL ASCENT: 1.300 m.

TIME: 5h.

DEGREE OF DIFFICULTY: Very flat and easy.

POINTS OF INTEREST: The whole itinerary, which borders the river Madriu at all times, offers a surprising view of riverside tree groves and high mountain forest (poplars, as trees, alders, black pine, fir etc.). You will also see "bordes" (cottages), "cortals" (pens), herdsmen’s huts,shelters and an extension of lakes. The entire Madriu valley may be considered a nature park.
