The Silent Valleys
- El Serrat and Arcalís -

The economy of the village of El Serrat was long based on livestock farming and rnetallurgy (there were two forges here). These are the sights to be seen:
  • The church of Sant Pere: this church was built in the 16th century. A panoramic view of the valley of Ordino may be enjoyed frorn this point.

El Serrat celebrates its village feast on June 29.

On the road running up to the ski slopes of Arcalís, you come to a crossing that leads to:

  • The valleys of Rialb and Sorteny: these are glacial valleys that are used for livestock grazing. The valley of Sorteny is a fascinating place for people interested in botany because of its wide range of flora. It should be recalled, however, that it is forbidden by law to collect plants in Andorra.
  • The cabanes de Castelar: if you return to the Arcalís road, you come to this livestock-grazing area where tradicional herdsmen's huts rnay be seen.
  • The ski resort: two kilometres farther up lies the ski resort, where sports activities are also organised in the summer. This is a grazing area for horses.
