Welcome Principality of Andorra !!

Andorra is a beautiful little country situated between France (Ariège and Pyrénées-Orientales) and Spain (Catalonia). Has a population de 65.000 inhabitants living within a territory of about 468 square miles. Its Capital is Andorra la Vella. Four rivers water the country: the North Valira, the East Valira, the Valira and the Madriu, which after junction at Escaldes-Engordany become the Great Valira.
Was founded, according to the legend in the year 784 by Charlemagne, and was a feodal possession of the Bishops of Urgell and Counts of Foix, whose successors are, in our days, the Bishop of Urgell and the President of the French Republic. Andorra is governed by the Consell General which is the Andorra parliament. It has twenty eight members, called Consellers Generals who are elected by the Andorran voters and represent the seven parishes: Canillo, Encamp, Ordino, La Massana, Andorra la Vella, Sant Julià de Lòria and Escaldes-Engordany; each member serves for four years. Two presiding officers called Sindics are elected by the Consell General.

The Consell General appoints a Cap de Govern (Prime Minister) who chooses his Ministers. They prepare the programs which are then presented by the Cap de Govern to the Consell General. The official language of Andorra is Catalan and the currency commonly used is the Spanish peseta. The principal resources are tourism, commerce, tobacco growing and cattle. Among its natural riches, there are thermal springs at Escaldes-Engordany (temperature 10 to 85 degrees centigrade), sulphuric and sulphydric, which are particularly suitable for the treatment of rheumatism and skin diseases. Andorra is a country of forest and pastureland lakes and rivers. Its picturesque scenery, its delightful climate and its folklore make Andorra a wonderful destination for your holidays or your week-end.
